Here are some recent reports from New Orleans, New Jersey, California and Florida on toxic mold and sick buildings and related construction defects:
New Orleans: A Mississippi company that bought the Quality Inn Midtown Hotel filed suit in federal district court against the hotel's former owners claiming they concealed mold contamination in the rooms, according to this KATC3 News report.
New Jersey: A Burlington County, New Jersey Township will ask voters to pass a bond referendum to fund $14 million dollars in mold related school repairs, according to this Burlington Times article. The school district announced there was no "substantial, imminent risk to the health of the overall school population' but some parents complained they had just been only been informed of the contamination the previous week and worried the mold was hurting the health of their children.
Carlsbad, California: Mold from roof leaks triggered closure of the Walter Gerrells Performing Arts and Exhibition Centre for repairs, according to a this Carlsbad Current-Argus article. "Any building, whether it’s a residence or a commercial building, if it has roof leaks, has mold,” the Building Manager said. (Amen to that!)
